Redundant Faults

چکیده
Redundant faults in digital circuits not only result in extra hardware but also mask other faults and may also make undetectable fault detectable. Redundancies increase the chip area, the power consumption, and often propagation delays in the circuit and might even reduce the yield [5]. This paper is a result of literary search for detection and removal of such faults. This paper addresses procedures described in literature to detect and remove redundant faults.

On Removing Redundant Faults in Synchronous Sequential Circuits
We describe a time-e cient procedure for removing sequentially redundant faults from synchronous sequential circuits with synchronizing sequences. We use properties of redundant faults and propose several methods to identify subsets of redundant faults that can be removed simultaneously from the circuit. By removing several redundant faults simultaneously, the number of repetitions of the test ...
متن کاملFalse-Path Removal Using Delay Fault Simulation
Some false paths are caused by redundant stuck-at faults. Removal of those stuck-at faults automatically eliminates such false paths f r o m the circuit. However, there are other false paths that are not associated with any redundant stuck-at fault. All links of such a false path are shared with other testable paths. W e focus o n the elimination of this type of false paths. W e use a nonenumer...
متن کاملon Power - Efficient Fault Tolerant Micro architecture for Chip Multiprocessors
Relentless scaling of silicon fabrication technology coupled with lower design tolerances are making ICs increasing susceptible to wear-out related permanent faults as well as transient faults. A well known technique for tackling both transient and permanent faults is redundant execution, specifically space redundancy, wherein a program is executed redundantly on different processors, pipelines...
متن کاملDouble Faults Isolation Based on the Reduced-Order Parity Vectors in Redundant Sensor Configuration 155 Double Faults Isolation Based on the Reduced-Order Parity Vectors in Redundant Sensor Configuration
A fault detection and isolation (FDI) problem is considered for inertial sensors, such as gyroscopes and accelerometers and a new FDI method for double faults is proposed using reduced-order parity vector. The reduced-order parity vector (RPV) algorithm enables us to isolate double faults with 7 sensors. Averaged parity vector is used to reduce false alarm and wrong isolation, and to improve co...
متن کاملOn the Probability of Detecting Data Errors Generated by Permanent Faults Using Time Redundancy
Time redundant execution of tasks and comparison of results is a well-known technique for detecting transient faults in computer systems. However, time redundancy is also capable of detecting permanent faults that occur during or between the executions of two task replicas, provided the faults affect the results of the two tasks in different ways. In this paper, we derive an expression for esti...
